The Issue of Race

It is suggested by some media pundits that many white people will not vote for Barack Obama simply because he is black; that they are racist. No one, of course, suggests racism among the 90% of black voters who will vote for him BECAUSE he is black. In point of fact, many will not vote for Barack Obama because they believe he is not qualified. They will not vote for him because they believe he proposes a vast social agenda of more government, more taxes and more infringements on the liberties of Americans. They would feel the same regardless of his race.

Black people comprise 13% of the population, yet make up 80% of the National Basketball Association and 65% of the National Football League. Is this because of racism? Hardly. They are simply better athletes proportionally, either naturally gifted or working harder at their craft. No one suggests that they be limited to 13% of the representation in sports.
